Michail Lalov: "The sentence of Paris II"

The plot of the painting is drawn-out from ancient Greek mythology. The degree of conditionality increases thanks to the three apples arranged in the foreground which seem to hang in the air. The glass of wine, the grapes, as well as the apples themselves add to the motif something of the ancient bacchanalia and saturnalia, which are the feasts of fertility, abundance and nature, as well as the joy of life. In this case the author has chosen a peculiar monochrome solution, which in a sense is in contrast with the image characteristic.
