Valentin Savchev: ''Centaur''

In this work, the sculptor interprets a motif derived from the ancient Greek mythology. An image of a centaur is loaded with multifold meanings that have been a subject of numerous interpretations and variations over centuries. In this case, the author provides the figure with the attribute of the lyre, which gives the composition a certain poetic sound. The style is emphatically expressive as forms are treated with open and free improvisational ease. This strengthens the force of impact and increases possible relationships of the surfaces with light and space around the figure.
